<p>Over the past few weeks the story highlights goes something like:</p>
<p>Japanese sales figures published &#8211; show HD DVD lagging behind Blu-Ray</p>
<p>Days later &#8211; big chains across the world annouce they will discontinue selling HD DVD one by one</p>
<p>Today -a top digg story (on engadget) says Toshiba will announce plans to discontinue and pull all remaining stock tomorrow.</p>
<p>Compare this skirmish with the battle between Beta and VHS formats 20 years ago. That went on for years. The times &#8211; they are a changing real fast!</p>
